After you upgraded to XP did you install any chipset/video/audio/LAN drivers
for XP that should be on a CD that came with the laptop or on the
manufacturer's web site as downloads?
Everyone will tell you that you should have downloaded any and all drivers
needed for XP BEFORE installing XP.
