Short Network Interruptions

I have Verizon Fiber Optic service into a wireless router. (win xp pro) My
primary computer is hard wired through the router. About 20 times a day, at
irregular intervals, I get short--about 1 second--interruptions with a msg
that says Network Cable Unplugged. Sometimes it will be fine for several
hours, and then get a few hits within the next 10 minutes. I've tried
replacing the cables in and out of the router, and tried different ports on
the router. Does this sound like it could be something with my network
card...or in the Verizon service itself...or could it be the router? Any
suggestions as to what I should try next? (I called Verizon and they said
they were sure it was the cables)

thanks
