I can't share anything on my computer when I go to the properties' sharing tab. I have simple file sharing enabled, and can also view the shares from my windows xp home computer on this computer. Does anyone know why I wouldn't be able to share anything on this computer? My account has all administrative rights, so I don't see why. The checkbox next to "share this folder" is always greyed out. Help, please.

Ryan,

What folders have you tried to share? With Simple File Sharing and Guest
authentication, there are some that you can't share.

Chuck,
My account is an administrator, so I don't have any restrictions. But just to be safe, how would I check if it does have any restrictions?

The folders I am trying to share are the "My Videos" and "My Music" folders.

Ryan,

"My Music" is part of "My Documents", and I'd bet that "My Videos" is also. "My
Documents" is a personal space that Guest does not have access to. Simple File
Sharing uses only Guest authentication.

Chuck,
Well, I just tried to share other folders as well, folders inside the 'Program Files' folder, deep into the folder tree, not the root 'Program Files'. It won't seem to let me share anything at all. Is there a specific service that may be disabled to disallow the sharing? And I don't understand why I can share the 'My Videos' and 'My Music' folders that are on my other Windows XP computer.
