Hi Fred can you check in the device manger if you can find the wireless card
in the network adapters section? Try to remove the card and reconnect it
back to the PCMCIA slot. See in the router configuration page if it showing
any wireless connection connected to the router. I'm suspecting about your
PCMCIA card. Sometimes due to heat those card can get damaged internally
which is not visible to the naked eye.
