*** "Wireless network not found" ***

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hi,

I have WinXP Home on my desktop and laptop. The desktop is connected to a Netgear router using a RJ45 Cat5 cable from a cable modem.

The Laptop uses a Netgear wireless card (pcmcia).

The system has worked just fine for over three years with only an occasional dropout and I've used the "repair" connection option to fix it successfully.

Today, after being connected for about an hour and with just my startup page open, the laptop displayed a time out error on that web page out of the clear blue. No software/hardware was installed or removed.

When I try to "view all available networks" it reports that there are no wireless networks found -

I've tried this over and over again, rebooted, powered both PCs down, powered off the router, then the cable modem, then re-connected again.

Only the hardwire cables work on both machines. The router appears to be working normally, that is the LEDs show 1 port connected, and the wireless icon flashing as it always does but the laptop finds no network.

Can someone help me on this?

Thanks, Fred
.
