Win XP Laptop can't ping itself or be pinged from others
As the title suggests really.
I have a laptop with win xp home. Have connected it to my work network
and also through a home network (both networks have static IPs).
Basically I cannot ping the laptop from any machine on either network,
and the laptop cannot ping itself - again this is common to both
networks.
The laptop can be accessed for file sharing and I can map its drives
from other machines.
I have checked loads of things suggested on other threads, such as
protocols (all seem fine, or at least the settings appear to match
those on the other machines) and firewalls (un-installed/turned off),
but can't solve the problem and have run out of ideas (and reached the
limit of my fairly basic knowledge of networking).
Can anyone help please?
