XP Home cannot see XP Pro

I have two PC's on my home LAN connected to a Linksys WRT54G Wireless
Broadband Router. One computer (new Dell Dimension XPS Gen 4) can see my
older home built PC (P4 2.7Ghz 1GB RAM) and retrieve files from it and such.
However, the older PC cannot see the Dell machine at all on the network.
This hasn't been a problem until I tried to have a LAN race. Obviously with
one not seeing the other, no racing. The Dell system has Windows XP
Professional SP2 and Norton Antivirus 2005. The older PC had Windows XP Home
SP2 and Norton Antivirus 2005. Any ideas on why only one PC can see the
other? Any help and direction here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in
advance.

Roger

p.s. - I have never upgraded the firmware in my router since I bought it.
It's at version 1.42.2 now and Linksys has an upgrade to 4.20.7. Should I
upgrade or not? I'm afraid to do so and screw up the whole system.
