Setting up a network backup drive with XP home edition
Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry
I have a home network with a desktop that's connected to the router via a
wire, and two laptops that are connected wirelessly. The desktop and one of
the laptops is running XP Home Edition and one laptop is running XP
Professional edition.
I want to set up a NAS drive using my desktop so I can backup all of my
computers to this drive. Is this possible? I tried doing this using
Microsofts documentation but couldn't do it. I'm also concerrned about
security risks of sharing all the files on all my computers. A veritable
welcome mat for a hacker.
So, how do I configure a shareable, secure drive on my desktop for NAS
backup over a network running both Professional and XP Home Edition.? Thanks
for your help.
