Andy,

If your computers are connected to a NAT router, that is not the same as a
firewall, and a NAT router only gives you protection against incoming threats.
But when you need to work on your computer, and are careful to not go surfing
the web to www.hackerzrus.com, you'll be safe. Please read my Layered Security
article for details:
<http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/please-protect-yourself-layer-your.html>

Registry editing is easier than you'd think from reading the MS articles.
<http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/07/registry-editor.html>

If you un install Norton properly, and enable WF, and enable the FPS exception
you should be OK, and safe. Then work on Windows Networking and File Sharing.
Once you get file sharing working, you can re install and configure Norton,
disable WF, and you should be set.

<http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/06/file-sharing-under-windows-xp.html>

Keep this up and YOU will be one of the pros. Just take it a step at a time.
Read the articles, in the order listed. Post back here with any more questions.

Cheers,
