Password Protect a Share

I am very familar with the concept of ACLS and NTFS permissions. Here
is what I am trying to accomplish. I want to share a folder on a
windows XP Pro box. This folder will contain various software
installations and documentation.
I only want a certain group to have access to this. This group consists
of technicians that go from computer to computer installing software.
I don't want to have the technicians login as themselves on the remote
computer to get access to this share. I would like it to either prompt
for a password or username.
The runas feature is kind of cumbersome and web enabling the share does
not really fit the bill either. So I am looking for suggestions to a
process or 3rd party apps that would accomplish this.

Thanks

.
