XP Networking with NT4 Server

We purchased a new Dell Dimension 3000 with XP home installed and we are
having difficultly connect all the resources on the network. Server is
running NT4 and all other computers are running WIN98. For example:

Internet access OK
Connection to Server OK - all directories and files accessible.
Connection to HP Laserjet 5000 on server OK - prints just fine.
Connection to "Spare" Computer OK - all drives and files accessible.

The following additional network resources show on the network but you
cannot access them.

Computer 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, - no access to shared drives or printers. (all shared)
Printer server connected to plotter - no access

My question is why do we have access to some resources and no access to the
other resources?

We firmly believe the problem is software related and not hardware.

thanks
Bill
