Hi, Phil -
If simple file sharing is enabled on the XP machines your choices are
somewhat limited - but if you go into Control Panel --> Folder Options
and disable simnple file sharing you can create network shares pretty
much wherever you want. One caveat, though; if you disable simple file
sharing you'll need to set up matching user accounts and passwords on
both machines.
On your second question, most of the time it's not possible to run a
program installed on a different computer, because the program will
look on the local machine for its support files and regustry entries -
and since they don't exist on the machine where the program's not
intalled the program will normally fail.
