Network Wizard only creates Dialup VPN

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

When I create a new VPN connection via the Network Connection Wizard on WinXP
SP2, it will only create a dialup connection using my modem. I've not been
able to get it to recognize or use either of my LAN adapters (Wired or
Wireless). When I look at the Network Connections it lists the newly created
connection as a dialup connection and not a VPN connection. This used to
work and I didn't notice when it stopped, so I'm not sure what changed to
break this.

I've found no other references to this kind of behavior and reinstalling SP2
didn't help. I'm an IT professional and my tech staff has never seen this
and hasn't been able to find any fix either.
