For my browser, Firefox, it's in a cookie. I think this will depend upon what
program is issuing the check box.

Want to find out more? Get Filemon, Process Explorer, and Regmon (all are free)
from <http://www.sysinternals.com/>. Process Explorer will identify the PID of
the running program. Enter that PID as a filter into Filemon and Regmon. Then
just run the program that you're interested in, and see what output you get in
Filemon and Regmon.
