I know this is not the correct place to post this but I tried on the Media
Center group and could not get any answers. Since I think this is a network
issue I thought that maybe posting here might help.
Anyway, I have Media Center 2005 running on an hp 1072n. I also have Media
Center Extender for Xbox. They are both connected to a netgear 10/100 switch
(fs608) via wired ethernet. The switch is also connected to a linksys router
(wrt54g) for internet access. The media center connects to the Xbox normally
but every few minutes it loses connection. The Xbox says it has lost
connection to the network. I push the ok button to reconnect and system
reconnects for a little while and disconnects again after a few minutes.
I done a lot of testing to try and troubleshoot the problem. I put a laptop
on the cable that usually plugs into the Xbox and I can surf for hours
without a problem. I have sent numerous pings (even changing the size of the
ping packet with the -l switch) and the ping runs flawlessy. I even used
Etheral to capture the packets on the wire and could not see anything except
a few duplicate acks here and there. I have probably disabled every startup,
background program and service in the computer, all to know avail. I checked
all the event logs and there is nothing in them. Any information to help me
would be greatly appreciated.
