Tony,

Understand when you make a VPN connection, you are funneling ALL traffic through that
tunnel. That is why you do not have access to your local network while you have the tunnel.

If you need access ot local resources while in the tunnel, then you will need to uncheck the box
to use the remote network default gateway in your VPN connection properties. This will allow
you to access your local network and the Internet thorugh your local network.

If you need to keep the tunnel up during this time, then you will need to put a route entry in the
route table for the VPN remote network IP range in order to use both sides of the tunnel at the
same time.

One word of caution. The reason we do not recommend being able to make a work VPN
connection and at the same time an Internet connection through your local network is that this
is a security issue. When you do this, you are opening a path to your corporate network
through your VPN tunnel that bypasses normal security checks at the company end (as you
are in as a trusted user).

HTH,
Gary

'--'I have a small network consisting of :
'--' Laptop running XP Pro (cable connected, uses DHCP to get IP address)
'--' Laptop running XP Home (wireless, uses DHCP to get IP address)
'--' Brother MFC420CN printer (cable connected, static IP address)
'--'All are connected through a Linksys router.
'--'
'--'The XP Pro machine has no problem accessing he printer until I use a VPN
'--'dialer to access a network at work,
