Static IP/Port Forwarding

I recently was trying to install a program that required me to forward my NAT
ports and also required me to keep a Static IP Address. Once I did this I was
unable to use MSN messanger. I tried changing it all back to normal but it
still did not work.
Please help me in any way possible.
