Hello,
I have a problem,
Me and my neighbours are using a wireless network adapter so we can
both go on the internet. I have 2 computers in my house which are both
linked to a Network HUB (router), which on his turn is linked to the
modem. These two computers are directly linked with a USB cable. I
also have a laptop which uses a Wireless network card. Everything was
working great untill recently our newest computer (Using Windows XP
Home edition) had issues with booting. It wouldnt boot, you just saw
the "Starting Windows" screen and nothing happened. So i started it in
safe mode and ran a lot of virus scanners and Spybot scanners. I found
nothing. And from there on the LAN connection to the router wouldnt
work on my newest computer. All the others are working fine. I looked
around a bit and i found out the problem was that it wouldnt make
connection to the router because the router wouldn't give him an IP
adress. I compared the two computers which are directly linked to the
router and saw that the new computer (the one which doesnt get an IP
adress from the router) didnt have a Standard Gateway adress, nor a
DNS-server adress and no DHCP-server adress.
I'm really no network expert but i've tried some thing. Nothing
worked. Anyone knows a solution to this? I've tried to give the
computer a static IP Address. Then the LAN connection works again but
i still dont have access to the internet. Please help me!
