Hi again, and thanks for the continued support
I did as you suggested and after I typed the command it said the mmachine
had to be restarted to complete the operation. Unfortunately after restart
nothing had changed.
I will now try to tell you exactly what I see.
If i type IP config in a command prompt I get only the listing for the
Ethernet adapter (LAN).
In Network connections I get both a 1394 connection and local area
connection. Both have a status of connected
If i visit the connection status of the 1394 connection it says it is
connnected at a speed of 400.0 Mbps
The support tab contains blanks for all the fields in the connection status
box. The details button opens a window with no properties or values. Clicking
on the repair button presents a message
"Windows could not finish repairing the problem because following action
cannot be completed:
TCP/IP is not enabled on this connection. Cannot Proceed.
For assistance, contact the person who manages your network"
(unfortunately that person is me)
changing the TCP/IP properties between obtaining automatically or assigning
a static address does not seem to make any difference and the TCP/IP box is
ticked.
I hope this is what you needed to hear.
Thanks again, Olly
