Windows cannot determine the user or computer name. (The RPC server is unavailable. ). Group Policy processing aborted.

I get the above error message in my event log for apps. and I have a number
of odd network, userid issues. passport can never remember who I am, in
remote desktop when I go to add a user that can access this computer the
location is limited to this computer.

Let me interrupt myself here, I have a number of computers running xp pro.
I have a domain controller running windows 2000 server. I log on to the
domain. I just looked at my laptop's location information under remote
desktop and I can see the entire directory. I'm not seeing this on this
desktop.

I can access the drives on the domain. I don't seem to have a problem login
on to the domain, but something is not right. this is error id 1053

user is NT Authority/system computer is Main

does anyone have any idea what is wrong and how do I fix it.

Thanks

Jon
