Thank you for your advice, problem solved but MAC address was not the cause.
Spoke to ISP (yet again!) but this time they provided me with the appropriate
router settings which seem to work so far.

Seems that Tiscali support is a bit hit and miss.

I am now stuck with my wireless connection, I cannot get my notebook to
access the internet through the router yet it will connect to the wireless
network with ease, this time I really am without a clue!

Any suggestions or links to relevant websites that can help would be
appreciated.

Notebook is Toshiba Tecra A2, running XP Pro SP2 with Centrino 802.11g.
