I'm not sure why this would happen. What is your network setup? Is this
a home computer or are you on a school or corporate network?

I'm not sure where you heard that scanning in Safe Mode was a bad idea,
but I doubt that an MVP would say that. Safe Mode loads the operating
system with a minimum of drivers and processes. You cannot delete a
file that is in use and most malware will not be running in Safe Mode.
This is why you usually can't delete trojans and other malware in
Regular Mode - the bad stuff is running. You always want to do
troubleshooting virus and malware scans in Safe Mode.

Security is generally more lax in the Intranet zone because it is
assumed that your intranet (lan or corporate wan) is secure and
trusted. I wouldn't run around screaming that the sky is falling, but
you should probably look into this. Again, it does matter if you are on
a school or corporate network or are using a proxy server, so please
describe your setup.
