Hi--I am the accidental techie at our non-profit. I just installed sp2 on one
of our computers. This computer is networked (wired) via a router to another
XP computer (sp1), and wirelessly to a Win98 computer.

The computer on which I installed sp2 is working fine, but the network is
all messed up. The other XPsp1 computer appears in the workgroup, but when I
try go into it, I get a message that "access is denied..you do not have
permission, etc." I cannot even ping that computer from the sp2 computer, nor
can I ping the sp2 computer from the sp1 computer. I set up the Windows
Firewall to allow pinging on the sp2. Both computers can ping the Win98
computer fine. All three computers can access the Internet without problem.

The sp2 has Norton AntiVirus 2004, the sp1 has Norton Internet Security
2003. Disabling the Norton programs and the sp2 firewall does not help.

I tried to add the IP addresses of the other two computers to the Exceptions
in the sp2 firewall, but it didn't help.

I also tried rerunning the Network Setup Wizard on each XP computer; it
didn't help either.

Since the network worked perfectly fine before installing sp2 on the one
computer, sp2 must somehow be the problem (but I can't figure out why it
seems to be a problem with the sp1 machine???). Does anyone know how to fix
this?

Thanks for any help.
