All I would suggest is that you do NOT modify your laptop's domain
membership or you will 'lock yourself out of your car' until you can bring
the laptop back to work & grovel in front of your IT folks.

Just connect your laptop to your home network, log into the domain account
with cached credentials on the laptop, and then make sure you can ping your
home PC(s) - first by IP, then by name (this may take about 15 minutes
unless you have a hosts file with the home PC name & IP, and the home PC
uses a static IP).

Then map a drive to a share on your home PC....I usually do this in a
command prompt:

net use x: \\computer\share /user:computer\username

You should be prompted for a password - enter the appropriate one.

Boom, you have a drive mapping. You can now also connect to/use a printer on
that workstation.

It's harder to set up a "domain" laptop so other workstations in a workgroup
can access resources on it - so I usually do this as a one-way thing, which
is generally enough.
