My XP SP1 home box suddenly starts having problems to renew its
address from the network. Already after a few minutes the connection
to continue surfing is gone.
The eventviewer shows the following error: "The semaphone timeout has
expired.... your computer will continue to try and obtain an address
od its own from the network address (DHCP) server". But these trials
are unsuccessful.
I have not installed any new soft or hardware, nor have I changed
anything in my system (inl.windows update) during many days before the
error occurred.
I have a 3Com Gigybit LOM and a a com21 cablemodem.
Any help would be appreciated
Peter
