Fred,
I'm suspecting several possible problems here. The simplest might be reflected
in the ipconfig for the computers.
Please provide ipconfig information for each computer.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.
Please provide adhoc browser view for each computer.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "net view >c:\netview.txt" into the command window -
Open c:\netview.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.
Norton Internet Security, like other personal firewalls, is known to cause
problems with file sharing. Disabling it does not always solve the problem.
You might be better off re enabling it, and designating the other computers as
trusted. Other than properly configuring it, some folks have reported relief by
un installing NIS and NAV, totally, using all Symantec un install procedures.
Let's start with ipconfig and net view, then move forward after we have your
pinging working.
