I have today installed SP2 on two pc's running XP Home.
The pc's are networked using an ethernet crossover cable.
One pc (the host) has a dial-up modem and the connection
is shared with the "guest" pc. This arrangement worked
very well before SP2. It still works well in that both
pc's can separately and together access the internet for
web surfing and/or email.
The problem is that with the host up and running (but not
connected to the internet), when the guest is started up
it tries to connect to the internet. I cancel each
attempt (from the host) and it tries again for up to 5 or
6 times. Then normal service resumes, ie no more
attempted connections.
I am hoping that there is some attribute that I need to
either set or un-set?
Thanks in anticipation
Keith
