Hi,
Thank you for posting here!
In order to isolate the cause, let us start the whole configruation from
the beginning.
I prefer to disable IEEE 1394 firewire and WiFi temporarily, so that we can
be clearly on the ICS configruation. To disable the two network connection,
go to Control Panel -> Network Connections and then right click the
connection icon of IEEE 1394 firewire, and then choose Disable from the
context menu. You can disable WiFi connection with the similar steps.
Based on my experience, DSL uses a PPPoE connection to the Internet. Please
follow the steps below to enable ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on the
PPPoE connection.
1. In Control Panel, double-click Network Connections.
2. Click the PPPoE connection under the Broadband group that you want to
share, and then click "Change settings of this connection" under Network
Tasks.
3. On the Advanced tab, click to select the "Allow other network users to
connect through this computer's Internet connection" check box.
4. Under Internet Connection Sharing, in "Home networking connection",
click the LAN (Local Area Network) connection (The connection of your RJ45)
that connects the computer that is sharing its PPPoE Internet connection to
the other computers on your network.
5. Click OK to exit.
NOTE: When you select the connection to share, it must be the external
connection that connects the ICS host to the Internet. Selecting the wrong
connection causes ICS to not work.
IMPORTANT: When you enable ICS, the network adapter that is connected
receives a new static IP address of 192.168.0.1, with a subnet mask of
255.255.255.0. Existing TCP/IP connections on the network may be lost.
On the laptop, to confirm the RJ45 network connection and IP configuration:
1. Log on to the laptop as an Administrator.
2. On the taskbar, click Start, and then click Control Panel.
3. In Control Panel, double click Network Connections.
5. Right-click "Local Area Connection" and then on the shortcut menu that
appears, click Properties.
6. On the General tab, in the "This connection uses the following items"
list, click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)", and then click Properties.
7. In the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties" dialog box, click "Obtain
an IP address automatically" (if it is not already selected), and then
click OK.
NOTE: You can also assign a unique static IP address in the range of
192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254. For example, you can assign the following
static IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway:
IP Address 192.168.0.2
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway 192.168.0.1
8. Click OK to exit.
