SP2 Wireless Connection to DWL-800AP+

My connection to my wireless network is through a DLink DWL-800AP+ wireless
access point. After installing Windows XP SP2 it appears that I can connect
to the Internet through this device but the Wireless Connection icon at the
bottom right corner of the screen says "Not Connected". However, I really am
connected. If I instead connect directly to my wireless router which is a
DLink DI-514, I get the icon that shows a good connection and again I can
maneuver around the Internet just fine.

Any ideas as to why when I connect throught the access point my good
connection doesn't appear to be a good one when looking at the icon.

Also, I notice that after a few minutes of connection on the DWL-800AP+ my
connection really does seem to be dropped and then my computer attempts to
connect to whatever other wireless connection is available. That problem
used to happen to me before SP2 though and to resolve that I was running a
batch file that stopped the WZC Service after I made a good connection.
