Hi. My home network consists of 2 XP Pro Desktops (wired to Dlink DI-624
Wireless DSL router) and 1 XP Pro laptop connected via Dlink DWL-G650
wireless PCMCIA NIC. This wireless combo uses Dlink's Supreme G standard
(802.11g with Turbo G that provides upto 108 MB of thru-put). Although the
laptop appears to have a Good to Very Good connection to the router, and I
can surf the Internet just fine, when I try to view the files on my main
desktop via Windows Explorer, it can sometimes take several minutes to see
the contents of a directory on the other system after having clicked on it in
the Explorer. HELP!
I've read on other forums that to insure file and print sharing on
peer-to-peer networks you need to install NetBUI on all machines on the
network. However, I'm using TCP/IP on all systems and I can share files and
printers. It's just very slow! Besides, I understand that NetBUI is not a
routable protocol, so, would it even work going through the Dlink router?
