direct cable conection

Please some one help. My lap top running XP home can not
see the files on my PC running Win98 second edition. The
connection between the two is there, the computers are
talking but will not let me in on it. The lap top help
said to run FASTWiz on my PC but the PC will not let me
run the program. peter
