Hi,

Thanks. This was a really good answer. Here's what
happened.

#1 - check XP settings. matched.

#2 - check 98 settings.- matched except DNS. Used
Network icon in contorl panel to set DNS to 192.168.0.1

#3 ping tests on XP and 98 4 replies no lost, on both
computers all ip's & google.com

#4 IE on 98
open with home page at www.yahoo.com fails This
Page cannot be displayed Cannot find server.

http://216.239.39.99 fails This page cannot be
displayed
res://C:\Windows\System\SHDOCLC.dll\dnserror.htm

httP;//google.com fails exactly like 216.239.
216.239.39.99 above.

To get here I have to enable DNS and set it to 192...
with hose set to newtork name of host system. If don't
do this then ping fails olso.

Thanks,

Max Chandler

Thnaks,

Max Chandler
