Links within emails don't open

Does anyone know how to get the system to open URL's
contained within an email? I have transferred from AOL
to Outlook Express and found that none of the URL's load.
The link is displayed at the bottom of the screen, but it
doesn't even attempt to try and no error message is
given? Thanks.
