Hello,
I have just changed over from a Per2Per(Ad-Hoc) set-up to Infrastructure.
I have a ADSL Modem/Router(192.168.1.1) and 3Com WAP(192.168.1.254)
I have 1*XP Pro, 3*XP Home, 1* Win98SE. (XP machines on SP1)
All devices have static IP's in the 192.168.1.xxx range
NO other Firewalls Installed, XP's own disabled
I can:
- Ping the Router and the WAP from each PC
- Access the Internet from each of the PC's
- Ping each of the PC's from each other PC
I cannot see/use the Network Places/Neighbourhood on any of the PC's
No devices are present, or it says I do not have permission.
BUT.. This is interesting.. I can do START | RUN \\name
and immediately get access to the shares\files on that PC
Any ideas greatly appreciated, It's now only an inconvenience.
Best Regards - David
