Hello experts!

I've been struggling with this problem for a couple of weeks but
finding no solution. My desktop PC (Windows XP Prof. with all
updates) is hooked up directly to an ADSL USB (speed touch) modem.
The desktop PC is connected to my laptop (Windows XP with all updates)
in a lovely little home network. File sharing works fine in both
directions. I used the wizard to setup the network such that the
internet connection can be shared. I am even able to send and receive
Emails from the laptop via the network connection to the desktop PC's
ADSL USB modem (at least with two of my three Email accounts).

The two things that do not work are a) reaching any page at all with
Internet Explorer other than "page cannot be displayed" and b)
receiving Emails with my Hotmail account. I have never ever reached
any internet site at all with this setup from the laptop. When I pull
up IE, the laptop establishes an Internet connection via the desktop
and gives me the internet connection symbol. Under internet
connections on the laptop I see the following (translated from
German): Internetgateway - Alcatel Speedtouch Connection on Desktop -
Internetgateway - Connection established - ...

So can anyone tell me what could possibly account for the fact that my
connection always works perfectly for two Email addresses but always
fails for IE and for the third Email address. By the way, I am in
Austria and use the German language versions of Windows XP. Look
forward to any suggestions or info. at all. Thanks for listening.

Steven
