First make certain that there isn't a wireless MAC address filter set in
the router that is locking out the laptop card. Secondly, if the
Linksys configuration applet is installed, open it and make sure that
there are no bogus entries in any of the fields, particularly the SSID
and WEP key fields, set shared key. This applet should not have any
control over the wireless card with WZC, but I can verify that if the
applet has bogus information, the connection cannot be established with
WZC.
Make sure any other network connections have been disabled, leaving only
the wireless active. In the event that there is a winsock or layered
services problem, Google for lspfix.exe and winsockxpfix.exe and run
both in their default modes. Reboot. Open the wireless and hopefully
you will have the whole thing, set Let Windows Manage. Do not check the
802.11x authentication box unless needed for WPA. If this does not
work, then rerun the Connection Wizard.
