Hi,
let's try from the scratch.

Can you ping Win98 Computer (ping it by ip_address (192.168.0.2) and by name
(btw: what is it ?))
On WinXp open cmd and write:

NET VIEW \\192.168.0.2

What message do you get ?

Do the same on Win98 computer;

Open command

Type:

ping 192.168.0.1

ping WinXp_ComputerName

net view 192.168.0.1

Did you enable File And Print Sharing in Win98 (Control Panel / Network) ?

Let us continue after you provide me with the information mentioned.
