Hello,
I go to a boarding school that has very restrictive
internet access. There we can only run http, ftp, and
instant messanging services. I'll get right to it--I like
to game. I would really like to be able to utilize my
schools connection for it.
The only plausible way to get access to the the whole
internet would probably be proxy (any other suggestions
would be apprieciated). Is it possible to have a server
running outside the school that has full internet access,
and have users connect to it from port 80? I would need
some kind of port-forwarding too. Basically, i need to be
able to connect to the server from my school and need to
be able to run any protocol, service, etc. and have the
data given back to me thru port 80, AND have my computer
use that data appropriatly.
I have an extra computer and a copy of Server 2003 that i
can set up at my home that can have full internet access.
Will Server 2003 be able to accomplish this kind of job?
Also, with Server 2003, i need to be able to remotely
manage the system...does this software offer adeqaute
tools for this kind of task.
In fact, are there anyways to use this proxy as my
connection to the Internet for anything...a proxy would
offer me some privacy:)
