I've searched everywhere for an answer to this one so good luck.
My internet connection quits working periodically. Sometimes it's after a few hours of computer use, sometimes days. Here's what happens. I click a link or type in an address in IE and I get "The page cannot be displayed" error on any address I type. Also, outlook will say that the server couldn't be found while trying to check for mail. I can't get any internet software to work. But here is the wierd part..... I can 'ping' and 'tracert' from the dos window. I can also access the internet from all of the other computers on the network going throught the same router and cable modem.
Here's what I've tried: I tried reparing the network connection. No Good. I tried disabling and reinabling it. No Good. I shut down zone alarm. No Good. The only thing that works is a reboot. Then I'm good for another few hours or few days.
My virus protection is up-to-date, windows updates are current, I use Zone Alarm and NAT through a hardware router. I've scanned for everything I know how to scan.
Help!
