Wireless connection drops

I have a wireless network card from linksys that was
working fine in my Gateway computer until I upgraded the
OS from Win 98 to Win XP Pro. The wireless cards receives
a strong signal, ip address, connects to the internet and
within a minute drops the connection. MS has a hotfix for
this (kb828940) but I can not find it on any of their
downloads. MS won't help me because the original OS was
installed by Gateway. Gateway won't help because I
installed the wireless card. And Linksys says the problem
is related to the XP upgrade.
Anybody know how I can fix this problem or get a hold of
the hotfix?
Thanks.
