LAN & Internet Conflict ???

there are several things that could cause this.
1. are you on a domain? - if so, group policy settings
could prevent access - contact your administrator if this
is the case.
2. Do you use a vpn? if so, does this behaviour only
occur when the vpn is connected? There is a setting in
your vpn properties/networking/tcp-ip
properties/advanced, to "use default gteway on remote
network".If the remote network isn't set up for routing
this tick should be removed
3. you can ping out onto the internet by IP address. Can
you ping by name? If not, it is a DNS problem - check
your dns settings with "ipconfig /all" at the command
prompt. Verify that any address of dns servers is correct
and valid.
4 you say that when connected to adsl you used dhcp -
does this mean that you don't on the LAN? If it is a
manual/static configuration, check that all the entries
are correct and valid . If using dhcp, can you ping the
gateway?. can you release and renew the address?

It might be useful if you could provide a readout of the
ipconfig /all results, so we could see if there is
anything obvious / unusual

HTH - let us know.
