Can someone tell me what needs to be enabled when you
have an XP home laptop that can't access it's own
workgroup. When I click on 'view network computers'
I get "mshome is not accessible. You might not have
permission to use the network resource"
I have cable internet via a Mediacom cable modem. The
modem is connected to a D-Link router by ethernet, the
router is wireless w/ethernet ports. I have an XP pro
desktop physically connected to the same router
(ethernet) and it sees itself fine within mshome,
although It can't see the laptop nor ping it.
I have peer to peer checked along with tcp/ip and ipv6
is unchecked within the "networking services" window.
I'm noticing one thing that may or may not be relavent,
the desktop has the default gateway as 192.168.0.1 The
laptop has it as 192.168.1.1
They can both ping thier own gateway, but not the
other's. I don't know if that is normal or not.
(considering the setup) If anyone can 'unconfuse' me on
this issue I would be most grateful. THANX N ADVANCE.
