This one is a bit of a brain-teaser with the way i've explained it, but many
many thanks to those who may be able to shed light on this issue:

Am experiencing a very puzzling problem with a winxp laptop system that is
used in the office by day, and used at home by night. Each morning, the
user connects no problem to our winNT network, but the internet connection
does not work. This problem is fixed by resetting our Nexland
firewall/router, and then releasing and renewing IP config info on the
laptop.........then, the user goes home at day's end, connects to an ADSL
internet connection without a problem, comes back in the morning, and the
same problem repeats.

I've noticed that the laptop has no problem picking up an IP address from
our router/firewall when he first connects in the morning........BUT....the
default gateway IP address is NOT the same as our firewall IP address. The
default gateway address is 192.168.0.254, but the default address that is
reported on this sytem when he first connects to the office network in the
morning is 192.168.0.1. After doing the release/reset thing on the router
the laptop then reports the correct default gateway
address-------192.168.0.254. It also reports the correct DHCP and DNS
addresses which is also 192.168.0.254 (those numbers before the reset/renew
show as 192.168.0.100)

Is this laptop picking up different default gateway, dhcp, and dns IP
addresses at home, resulting in the system not being able to talk to the
internet/firewall in the office? If so, how can the problem be fixed?

Thanks very much for putting up with this complicated way to explain this
issue, and thank you very much for any help anyone could provide.

Here is the problem:

A winxp pro laptop is used at home to connect to an ADSL internet
connection. It's also used to connect to a WinNT network in the office.
The office internet is accessed through a nexland router. DHCP is enabled
on the laptop. Each morning, after having used the laptop without a problem

at home, the laptop won't connect to the internet. In order to resolve, the
router (192.168.0.254) has to be reset, and then the IP info on the laptop
has to be released and renewed. What is the problem, and how can this be
resolved? Thanks.

Additional Info:

IP Config Info Before router is reset and IP info renewed:

IP address: 192.168.0.122
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DHCP Server: 192.168.0.100
WINS Server: 192.168.0.100

Internet does not work in office!

IP Config Info After router is reset and IP info renewed:

IP address: 192.168.0.122
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.254
DHCP Server: 192.168.0.254
DNS Server: 192.168.0.254

Internet Works!

the router ip is 192.168.0.254
