Make sure that your tcp/ip settings are correct. For
example:
Computer A:
IP: 10.10.0.1
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: - (blank)
Laptop A:
IP: 10.10.0.2
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: -(blank)
Also; share out the cdrom drive on desktop A
goto desktop, and click start---run--- type in cmd and
hit enter...
type in the following: ping 10.10.0.2 if you get a reply
then your in business... if you dont get a reply, check
your cable... it may be bad.
Also do the same from the laptop just to be safe except
ping 10.10.0.1 instead.
If you get a reply, then on the laptop open up my
computer, and click on tools, and click map drive.
for share type in \\10.10.0.1\d$ (d being the drive
letter of the cdrom) and select reconnect at logon.
Hopefully this helps!
