Are you using an Internet sharing gateway/Router? If so, is it set to
broadcast? I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not as this
is pretty new to me as well, but my laptop would not automatically connect
every time- I would have to go to the wireless properties and refresh the
available networks, at which time it would connect.

I enabled broadcasting on the router and it connects automatically every
time I turn the laptop on.
