Help me with VPN!

Heys guys please help!

I have to two branches and i want to connect to the main
office MS SQL database using the system we've created.

is VPN is the answer?

the situation.

on Main office we have MSSQL server 7.0 running on NT 4.0
with Leased line(128Kbps) connection but we do not have a
router, on the two branches we have a 1 WinXP Pro on each
branch with both aDSL connection of 384Kbps.

What I would like to be done is to install our developed
software (VB 6.0) on both branches and let them use the
database installed on the main office.

can you instruct me on how can I achieve this.

please suggest any software or hardware that i need to
purchase as well as the tips for setting this kind of
connection.
