1. Open XP's "Help and Support Center".
2. In the Search box type: VPN , and hit enter.
3. Click on "Make a VPN Connection" and follow the instructions.

If the above does not work, then go to
Start > Run and type: MSCONFIG , and hit enter.
Click on the General tab, place a check next to
"Normal Startup", click apply and reboot. Then
repeat the VPN installation instructions.

| Hello all!
|
| I think that I've tried everything and I'm stumped. I've tried starting all
| of these services with no luck and I'll be happy to give you even more
| information if you need it.
|
| You may respond directly to the group or to my e-mail (may be best to
| respond to my e-mail since the groups get get pretty busy)
|
| I was unsure of where to stick this request for help, so I dropped it into
| the groups that seemed close.
|
| I have Windows XP Pro and it is running beautifully in all respects but I am
| unable to setup a VPN network connection without receiving an error.
|
| Here are the steps I take:
|
| 1. Open "Network Connections
| 2. Click "Create a new connection"
| 3. Click "Next" and then choose "Set up an advanced connection" and then
| click "Next"
| 4. Choose "Accept incoming connections" and click "Next"
|
| At this point, the computer sits braindead for a minute or two with the
| "Next" button visually still pushed.
|
| After a few minutes, I get a message box stating:
|
| "Incoming Connections depend on the Routing and Remote Access service which
| was unable to start. For more information, check the system event log."
|
| The Even Log show the following events in order:
