Server Service not starting in XP Pro

this has been a problem for months that I can't figure
out. for some reason the server service won't start when
I load windows even though I have it set to automatic, I
can always turn it on manually but then it always manages
to disable itself later on. anyone have any ideas what
could be causing this or how to fix it?
