"Bob",
I have found a fix to a similar problem - although nothing to do with
bridging for me (maybe coincidence for you?) - maybe what I did will
work for you.

My setup: MS XP with latest security fix for SASSER, Sun Java
(mandated change from MS Java), Nortons 2004, Outlook 2000.

My problem: Outlook worked once then failed after a "Common Client
User Session problem", also affected Antivirus and Firewall.

What I discovered: MS has no mention anywhere (but I think related to
SASSER fix). Sun talks about a Common Client for Java.

What fixed it for me: turned off Norton AntiSpam

My bet is on a Nortons problem as I had major problems with the latest
upgrade to NIS 2004 - and so did many people. I don't think that NIS
2004 had the same QA team as previous versions. However could also be
MS SASSER fix or Sun Java that is now on my system (or all three (not)
working together??)

Reported to: Symantec, MS, Sun, in the hope that someone will fix it!
