Re: win2000 and winXP Home, Networking problem

You are likely describing a Master Browser problem, but:

1. Synchronize the username and passwords on all machines. In other
words, all the usernames with passwords (no blank or empty passwords
used) on Computer A, can be found as usernames and passwords on
Computers B & C. And vice-versa.

2. Disable the Computer Browser service on the XP machine, unless it
is left on 24/7

3. While not necessary, enable the Guest Account on all Machines.

4. It does not sound like a firewall issue, but check the XP machine
in particular to see if the native ICF firewall is enabled under the
network adapter properties, Advanced tab. In addition, be aware that
some antivirus softwares install a firewall component by default.
PC-Illan is one notable example. Just check that no firewall issues
are involved.

There are technicly more elegant ways to solve this, but this as a
newsgroup post will get your where you want to be.
